At Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists, we are revolutionizing the way veterinary medicine is being practiced by offering innovative, non-surgical regenerative medical treatment options for animals. By using the animal’s own natural healing capabilities, veterinary regenerative medicine provides a viable alternative or adjunct treatment for many pets facing surgery due to degeneration, injury, or chronic pain. Many pets suffering from orthopedic and neurological disease are thriving again thanks to the ingenious capabilities of veterinary regenerative medicine.
The Regenerative Medicine Department at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists offers two advanced regenerative therapeutic options – Bone-marrow Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy and Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. Arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, muscle strains and tears, and a variety of spinal diseases, are among the many conditions that respond well to regenerative medical therapies.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
From a whole blood sample, the platelets are first concentrated and then activated to initiate the release of a variety of growth factors that positively enhance the repair capacity of damaged and diseased tissue
Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy
From a bone marrow sample, stem cells are isolated and cultured at a local stem cell laboratory where their numbers are exponentially increased to tens of millions of undifferentiated cells. These undifferentiated cells are then injected into the body at the area of concern and immediately begin transforming into the “repairman” cells necessary for natural healing.
With a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation that includes a lameness assessment to address body symmetry, joint articulation and stability, and neuromuscular function, we will determine whether or not regenerative medicine is a good choice for decreasing your pet’s pain and discomfort while restoring mobility and function.
